BIO of the band

Ricardo : The band is formed in 2000 at the instigation of Ricardo Jacobsohn, argentinian of origin, arrived in France there is about twenty years. Clarinettist by training, he is very quickly interested in the saxophone and in all instruments with wind, flutes and consors. Holder of a doctorate in musicology and engineering of sound, Ricardo is part-time lecturer in universities Paris VIII and "Marne-la-Vallée". He's a lover of latin musics of the forties, 50 and 60, boleros, rumbas, mambos and others than he sings and plays with heart and emotion.

The first tries of the group were performed with two percussionists (congas, djembé-bongos), a guitarist, a pianist, a double bass player-sax, and Ricardo in singing, sax, flute, synthé, etc... And the directory principally centered on its compositions, in a style rather Afro - pop.
Very quickly, at the request of Ric and by the presence of the percussionist Michel Bontemps, poured into a style more salsa, music evolves to become frankly latin, particularly at the time of the arrival of the percussionist Luis Campos, him too very salsa, conscript in return for of the first conguero whom, seen the largeness of work to perform to take up the directory, gives way fast.
The guitarist having so rather quickly leave, it is with this forming (Luis Campos: congas, Michel Bontemps : Timbalès, Philippe Rak: piano, Iliès Kammarti : Contrabass-sax and Ricardo) that the group is going to find its first way and its public with a music that they can qualify as afro-latin, title of the first album of the group, directory taken up with compositions of Ricardo and Michel as well as of covers of classics of the salsa as "Bilongo", "Moliendo cafe " or " Chan chan ".

This band is going to turn for five years, to give about 200 concerts in numerous rooms in the region of "Picardie" and "Somme" (France), to participate 3 years in a row in the festival " off " of jazz of Amiens and to record its first "Afro-latin" called album.

But shortness of breath waylays and at the end of instant, Luis cannot take any more repetitions, displacements and lack of money of the group. It leaves. It is right away replaced with Pascal Noël, friend of Michel. Then leave then Philippe and Iliès with other important commitments elsewhere. Michel who rather well rolled his bump in professional environment, finds a bass player and a pianist to replace them. It is about Thierry Paul, a musician from Paris longstanding friend and Jérémy Giélar, young musician pianist whom Michel spotted during the jams of Soissons.

Unfortunately, after some weeks, Pascal, the new percussionist finds death during a car accident while it came back to him after a mad jam to " l'Escale " in Laon.
Jean-Philippe Lepreux (Daddy), friend of Pascal and Michel, animator in the jam of Laon replaces him during the concert " Castel-Talents 2005 ", in Chateau-Thierry. Next year, Jérémy even leave the group for reasons of health. He is quickly replaced with Camille Geoffroy, pianist and tubiste, friend of Daddy.

2007 : the new band

At the beginning of 2007, The group is composed of: Ricardo Jacobsohn : singing, sax and flute, Camille Geoffroy: piano, Thierry Paul: electric bass, Michel Bontemps: drums, Jean-Philippe Lepreux: congas. New sound is quickly found, more incisive, more "modern " favour particularly in the electric bass which replaced the doublebass, and the drums added to timbalès. Arnaud Cochenet joins the group as trumpet player in aout on 2007.
Effectiveness, energy and joy to play are in make you with this training turned to the salsa and Latin-jazz. the directory put on weight of compositions of the group and of rearranged covers such as "Caravan" of Duke Elligton or " El manicero ". The group resumed concerts and prepares a second album.
